Privacy notice

Last updated: 1 October 2026

This notice explains what personal information I collect through drneilcuninghame.com, why I collect it, who helps me look after it, and what you can ask me to do with it. It covers the website, the Unstuck worksheets page and the optional six-week Unstuck email series. Clinical records from appointments at my practice are kept separately under the practice's own patient privacy arrangements and aren't covered here.

Who is responsible for your information

I'm Dr Neil Cuninghame, a chiropractor in Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal, and I'm the responsible party and the information officer for the purposes of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). You can reach me at unstuck@drneilcuninghame.com, or by post at Unit A1a Meyrickton Park, Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal, 3610, South Africa.

What I collect

You can download the worksheets without giving me any personal information. If you choose to join the email series, I collect your first name and email address. When you sign up and again when you confirm by email, my email service records the date and time, your IP address and the approximate location it points to, which together form the record of your consent. While you're on the list, it also records whether each email was delivered and opened and which links were clicked.

Like most websites, this site and the services that host and protect it keep standard technical logs when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, and these are used for security and to keep the site running properly.

Why I use it

I use your first name and email address to send the welcome email with the worksheet downloads and the six weekly emails you asked for, and to answer you if you reply. I look at the open and click information in aggregate to see which emails people find useful so that I can improve them. I don't use your details for anything else, I don't add you to any other list, and I never sell, rent or share your information with anyone for their own marketing.

The lawful basis for all of this is your consent, which you give when you sign up and confirm your email address, and you can withdraw it at any time.

If you reply and tell me about your health

Some people may reply to an email and tell me about their pain or their health. I'll read your reply so that I can answer it, but I won't record anything about your health on the mailing list and I won't keep the email any longer than I need to. The emails are general education based on the book and can't take the place of an assessment, so if your reply suggests you would benefit from one, I'll say so and suggest you see a clinician.

Who helps me look after it

I use MailerLite to collect sign-ups and send the emails. MailerLite is based in Lithuania and stores subscriber information in data centres in the European Union, where it's protected by the EU General Data Protection Regulation, a law that gives protection comparable to POPIA, which is what POPIA requires before personal information is sent outside South Africa. MailerLite handles your information only on my instructions and under a written data processing agreement.

The website is hosted by Bluehost and protected by Cloudflare, and my email inbox is also hosted by Bluehost, and each of them may handle technical information as part of running those services.

How long I keep it

You'll get the six weekly emails and then the series ends. I'll keep your name and email address for twelve months after your last email in case you have a question about the series, and then delete them. If you unsubscribe at any point, I keep only your email address and the record of when you consented and unsubscribed, so that you aren't sent anything again by mistake.

Keeping it secure

My MailerLite account and email inbox are protected with strong passwords and two-factor authentication, I'm the only person with access, and your information moves between your browser and these services over encrypted connections. If there's ever a security breach that affects your information, I'll let you and the Information Regulator know as POPIA requires.

Your rights

You can ask me what information I hold about you, ask me to correct it or delete it, and object to my using it. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of every email, or by replying and asking me to take you off the list. Email unstuck@drneilcuninghame.com with any of these requests and I'll respond as soon as I can, and within 30 days at the latest.

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, I'd like the chance to put it right, so please contact me first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa by email at POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za, by phone on 010 023 5200, or at Woodmead North Office Park, 54 Maxwell Drive, Woodmead, Johannesburg, 2191 (inforegulator.org.za).

Children

The email series is written for adults, so please don't sign up if you're under 18.

Changes to this notice

If I change how I handle your information, I'll update this page and the date at the top, and if the change affects people already on the email list, I'll tell them by email before it takes effect.
